At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong answered the concerns of businesses to accompany the Government in the vaccination program, actively seek vaccine sources, and prioritize vaccination. All vaccines that have been licensed by the World Health Organization, even though the manufacturer has not completed the procedures for licensing or granting registration numbers in Vietnam, can still be imported. .
For vaccines that have not been licensed by the World Health Organization but have been licensed for use by other countries, when any unit can access them, the Ministry of Health will also issue licenses immediately according to simplified procedures, maximum 5 days. All businesses that have the ability to access imported vaccines will be instructed to create the most favorable conditions to have the vaccine as soon as possible.

From the beginning of 2020, the Ministry of Health can communicate with all potential vaccine manufacturing companies in the world to negotiate to buy, import vaccines or receive technology transfer. Since August 2020, the Ministry of Health has signed a contract to buy vaccines from Astra Zeneca company. At the same time, the Ministry of Science and Technology together with the Ministry of Health are assigned to research and develop vaccines in the country.
Based on the proposal of the Ministry of Health, the Government directed all efforts to negotiate and prepare funding sources to buy vaccines.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed: There are not many vaccines in Vietnam, not because we lack money or have to wait for socialization but because the supply is scarce. The Government established the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund to ensure a sustainable financial source for the vaccination against COVID-19.
It is expected that the Ministry of Health has negotiated to buy about 150 million to 170 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
