Three young Vietnamese doctors have been recognized by the Global Pasteur Network alongside 37 other scientists under the age of 40 worldwide for their outstanding contributions to disease surveillance, prevention, and public health protection.
The list of 40 Under 40 is a new initiative by the Global Pasteur Network, announced during the Annual Meeting of the Pasteur Network held from October 21–24 in Ho Chi Minh City. This marks the first time in 66 sessions that the event has been hosted in an Asian country, bringing together more than 250 scientists and experts from five continents.
The Honored Vietnamese Doctors
The honored Vietnamese doctors include:
- Dr. Truong Thi Thuy Dung (Pasteur Institute Ho Chi Minh City): Applied data analytics to prevent measles outbreaks.
- Dr. Pham Van Khang (National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology): Conducted epidemiological research on measles, providing critical data for surveillance and immunization programs.
- Dr. Le Hoang Thieu (Pasteur Institute Nha Trang): Recognized for research on rabies and other infectious diseases.
An Initiative to Honor Young Scientists
According to the selection process, each member institute nominates one or two potential candidates, and an international scientific council chooses 40 outstanding young scientists for their contributions in medical research, infectious disease prevention, climate change response, immunology, and vaccine development.

Vietnam Strengthens International Cooperation
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong expressed pride in Vietnam’s three Pasteur institutes, which have contributed for over a century to vaccine research and disease prevention. She affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening international collaboration, developing young scientific talent, and applying new technologies in vaccine research and production as a key pillar for national health security.
