Pressing Need for Breakthroughs in Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation of Healthcare

The Ministry of Health has identified the application and breakthrough development of science, technology, and digital transformation in the daily operations of its units, especially at healthcare facilities, as an urgent requirement. This aims to create a movement for further development and breakthroughs in the fields of science, technology, and digital transformation in healthcare.

On March 11, at the Ministry of Health headquarters, Central Committee Member and Minister of Health Đào Hồng Lan chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on breakthrough development in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in healthcare. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the Ministry of Health's Action Plan.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Minister of Health Nguyễn Tri Thức, members of the Steering Committee, leaders of relevant departments and units under the Ministry of Health, and representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology. The meeting was held both in-person and online, connecting the Ministry of Health with various provincial and municipal hubs.

Minister Đào Hồng Lan

Healthcare: A Key Sector for Science and Technology Development

In her opening remarks, Minister Đào Hồng Lan emphasized that healthcare directly serves human life and is a sector with significant potential to attract advancements in science and technology. She highlighted Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, issued by the Politburo, which calls for breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. This resolution serves as a rallying call for intellectuals, scientists, and researchers both domestically and internationally to contribute to the development of productive forces, improve labor productivity, and enhance national competitiveness.

Additionally, on February 19, 2025, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 193/2025/QH15, which introduces special mechanisms and policies to foster breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. Earlier, on January 9, 2025, the Government issued Resolution No. 03/NQ-CP, outlining an action plan to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, with 14 targets and 7 key task groups.

Based on these directives, the Ministry of Health instructed the Department of Science, Technology, and Training to develop and issue Decision No. 787/QĐ-BYT, which outlines the Ministry’s action plan to implement Resolution No. 03/NQ-CP.

Healthcare to Lead in Implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW

Minister Đào Hồng Lan stressed that the healthcare sector will pioneer the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW. She also requested that the National Assembly and the Government prioritize resources for the development of science and technology in healthcare.

"Healthcare directly serves human life and is a sector with significant potential to attract advancements in science and technology," said Minister Đào Hồng Lan.

She also noted that the healthcare sector is actively accelerating digital transformation. With support from the Ministry of Public Security, Vietnam Social Security, and the Government, the Ministry of Health has proactively collaborated with relevant units and businesses to implement digital transformation tasks in healthcare.
