On November 3–4, 2025, Bach Mai Hospital hosted the 33rd Bach Mai Scientific Conference, themed “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence – A Breakthrough Foundation for Modern Medicine.” The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health and Chairman of the National Medical Council.
The conference was also attended by representatives from the Department of Science, Technology and Training, the Department of Personnel and Organization under the Ministry of Health, along with experts and scientists from Bach Mai Hospital and the surrounding region.

In his opening speech at the conference, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan stated:
“We are entering an era where technology does not replace humans, but rather extends human intelligence. It acts as a catalyst for clinical decisions that are more accurate, timely, and compassionate. The boundaries between curative and preventive medicine, between hospitals and communities, and between physicians and data are gradually disappearing. All elements are now interconnected within a smart ecosystem, with the patient at the center.”

This strategic direction aligns closely with the spirit of Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo, which highlights that breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation are the key drivers for rapid and sustainable development of the country.
The health sector must take the lead in realizing this vision, as it directly relates to the health, lives, and well-being of the people.
In addition, Resolution No. 72 recently issued by the Politburo has established a fundamentally new mindset: a strong shift from a focus on medical examination and treatment to proactive disease prevention, emphasizing comprehensive, continuous health protection and care throughout the life cycle.
“These are revolutionary directives,” shared Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan, “which require active and pioneering participation from leading medical centers like Bach Mai Hospital—not only as a place for patient care, but also as a hub for knowledge creation, technological development, and a driver of innovation across the national healthcare ecosystem.”
The Role of Bach Mai Hospital
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, stated that with the theme “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence – A Breakthrough Foundation for Modern Medicine,” the 33rd Bach Mai Scientific Conference is not merely an annual professional event. It has become an academic space for exchange, dissemination, and creation of new values for the development of Vietnam’s healthcare sector.
The theme of the conference reflects the inevitable development trend of modern medicine. Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital health, and personalized medicine are fundamentally transforming healthcare—from diagnosis and treatment to management and prevention.
