Meanwhile, according to Quang Ngai Newspaper, the province's healthcare sector is gradually moving toward the Smart Hospital model through the deployment of digital healthcare platforms, EMR systems, and healthcare data integration initiatives. Many leading hospitals have adopted AI-assisted diagnostic imaging solutions while investing in next-generation CT and MRI systems to improve clinical outcomes.

Built upon this digital foundation, the Smart Hospital model is increasingly becoming a reality across Vietnam. According to Dr. Bui Manh Hung, Acting Director of the Quang Ninh Department of Health, the implementation of EMR not only transforms medical data management but also establishes the foundation for modern hospital governance. Quang Ninh is among the pioneering provinces that completed EMR deployment across all public healthcare facilities by the end of 2024 and continues to advance healthcare data connectivity and the development of a comprehensive digital healthcare ecosystem.

At many major hospitals, Healthcare Information Systems (HIS), Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), online appointment scheduling, and cashless payment solutions are being integrated to optimize healthcare operations. These technologies help reduce waiting times, improve management efficiency, enhance transparency, and deliver a better patient experience.

These efforts reflect a broader transformation across Vietnam's healthcare ecosystem, where data serves as the foundation, technology acts as the driving force, and patient-centered care remains the ultimate objective. Once considered a future vision, Smart Hospitals are now emerging as a practical development model that contributes to improving healthcare quality amid growing healthcare demands.

AI Transforming Clinical Decision-Making 

Beyond digitizing medical data and workflows, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming one of the most transformative technologies in healthcare. From diagnostic imaging and early disease detection to clinical data analysis and treatment planning support, AI is helping healthcare professionals improve diagnostic accuracy and accelerate decision-making processes.

Several hospitals across Vietnam have already integrated AI into clinical practice. Bach Mai Hospital is among the pioneers utilizing AI to support early lung cancer detection. In Ho Chi Minh City, Thong Nhat Hospital has deployed the AI-enabled Spectral CT 7500 system to enhance diagnostic imaging capabilities. Meanwhile, Quang Ninh General Hospital has implemented the RAPID software platform for stroke treatment, enabling physicians to quickly assess brain tissue damage and make timely intervention decisions.

In addition to AI, technologies such as telehealth, Big Data, and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) are creating significant growth opportunities for Vietnam's healthcare technology market. These innovations are not only improving healthcare delivery but also encouraging technology companies, medical device manufacturers, and digital solution providers to play a greater role in the healthcare sector's transformation.
